Statement by CCA President & CEO Steven K. Berry: “I commend the FCC for its amendment of the Nationwide Programmatic Agreement for the Collocation of Wireless Antennas, which will help further improve infrastructure deployment around existing tower sites. Streamlined infrastructure policies are critical for competitive carriers to be able to enhance and build out their networks, and I thank Chairman Pai and Commissioner Carr for their important work on wireless infrastructure issues. Consumers stand to benefit most from clear, efficient policies, and today’s announcement certainly is a step in the right direction toward achieving this important goal.”

Washington, D.C. – Today, thirteen telecommunications industry trade associations led by CCA sent a letter to Senate leadership urging inclusion of S. Amdt. 2024, introduced by Senators Luján (D-NM), Welch (D-VT), Vance (R-OH), Daines (R-MT), Wicker (R-MS) and Rosen (D-NV), to the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act (H.R. 3935). The associations urged Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to include this critical amendment, which would address the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program's $3.08 billion shortfall and add $6 billion for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), offset by future spectrum auction proceeds. “Fully funding the Rip and Replace Program is critical to securing our nation’s networks, including those serving rural areas, military bases, airports, and other areas of strategic importance,” said Tim Donovan, CCA’s President and CEO. “Absent full funding, millions of Americans face complete loss of connectivity and jeopardized access to emergency services. Additionally, the ACP helps bridge the digital divide, benefiting 23 million households, including seniors and veterans, many in the same areas affected by the potential loss of service due to the Rip and Replace shortfall. Addressing both of these issues immediately is critical for supporting and maintaining connectivity across the country, especially in rural areas and low-income communities.” A link to the letter can be found here . An excerpt can be found below: The Rip & Replace and ACP Programs were created by Congress to secure and support connectivity across the U.S. Congress must provide this funding immediately to ensure the success of these programs and ensure that entire communities across the United States will not be left behind. This amendment is the necessary solution to maintaining connectivity for millions across the United States, securing American networks, and preserving the historic broadband investment Congress has made in rural and tribal communities, and we commend the Senators for their commitment to this effort. The amendment must be advanced and included in the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act.
