This is a critical time for competitive wireless carriers. Public policy issues before Congress, the FCC, and other agencies have significant consequences and could impact the wireless industry.

Why Join CCA?

We're ensuring the future of a competitive mobile industry.
CCA members range from small, rural carriers serving fewer than 5,000 customers to regional and nationwide providers serving millions of customers, as well as vendors and suppliers that provide products and services throughout the wireless communications ecosystem.

Our mission is to advocate on behalf of our members' interests and educate policymakers on the key issues that impact our members' ability to compete, survive, and thrive in the industry. CCA also represents associate members including vendors and suppliers that provide products and services throughout the mobile communications supply chain. Together, CCA's membership makes up an entire competitive mobile ecosystem - working together to bring the most robust services to consumers all across the nation.
  • Advocacy

CCA works to ensure that competitive carriers have:

    • Meaningful access to licensed spectrum for commercial wireless use
    • Sufficient and predictable USF support
    • Streamlined federal infrastructure policies which spur and support wireless deployment
    • Access to information and resources necessary for network security
    • Access to devices and the latest technologies

Visit our Advocacy page for the latest news you can use.

  • Business Solutions

As a complement to our advocacy work, we also work closely with our members to provide business solutions for carriers. CCA’s Data Access Hub is one of the most significant programs to date and was created to make connectivity much easier. Carriers that connect with the Hub have immediate access to all other participating operators’ networks.

Visit our Industry Development page to learn more.

  • CCA Events

CCA hosts two major events each year to bring key players in the competitive mobile ecosystem together to network, learn about the latest technologies, and hear policy updates. CCA events are the ideal meeting place for stakeholders in the mobile industry to come together under one roof.

More carrier companies are represented at CCA events than any other industry event, giving attendees and exhibitors unprecedented access to top-level executives and companies influencing the industry.

  • Networking

CCA members gain access to a network of industry colleagues who share the same policy concerns. Our Washington Representatives (WASH REPS) Group holds weekly calls to discuss the latest developments on legislative and regulatory issues most important to competitive carriers.

A clear, respected voice representing competitive carriers.

Three Types of CCA Membership

Carrier Members

CCA carrier applicants must be the operator of a CMRS license providing “two-way” wireless communications service and, together with all its affiliates, not have more than 80 million subscribers at the time original application is submitted. Carrier member companies are voting members of the association.

Associate Members

CCA associate members are companies that provide goods or services to the wireless telecommunications industry serving the rural and small metropolitan areas of the U.S. Associate members are a separate category from carrier and affiliate members, and are not voting members of the association.

Affiliate Members

CCA affiliate members are companies who operate or own an interest in a CMRS license but do not meet the requirements for carrier (voting) membership; this may be because they exceed the subscriber limit in their markets or because they are a limited partner. Affiliate members are not voting members of the association.

In order to qualify as a voting member, a company must:

1. Be an FCC spectrum licensee, or an FCC-approved lessee of spectrum, or a high bidder for a license at the close of any FCC spectrum auction, providing or with plans to provide a two-way wireless service; and

2. Together with all “affiliates”, not have more than 80 million subscribers at the time of original application to become a voting member (“affiliates” are defined as all entities controlling, controlled by or under common control with the applicant). Note: bylaws provide for grandfathered membership for carriers who may exceed 80 million subscribers.

Annual dues are assessed based on annual wireless revenue.

The Associate Member category includes companies that provide goods or services for the wireless telecommunications industry serving the rural and small metropolitan areas of the United States. Associate members are not voting members.

Annual dues are assessed based on annual revenue in the wireless industry.

The Affiliate Member category is comprised of those companies who operate or own an interest in a CMRS license but do not qualify as a voting member. This may be because they exceed the subscriber limit in their markets or because they are a limited partner.

Annual dues are assessed based on annual wireless revenue.
