Statement by CCA President & CEO Tim Donovan on FCC Spectrum Auction Authority Reinstatement

Washington, D.C. – Competitive Carriers Association President and CEO Tim Donovan made the following statement following Congress’s reinstatement of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) spectrum auction authority.

“CCA thanks Congress for reinstating the FCC’s spectrum auction authority and establishing blueprints for future spectrum auctions. This long overdue action will help meet consumer demand, remove obstacles to U.S. global leadership, and is essential to closing the digital divide for rural America. CCA looks forward to working with the FCC and other stakeholders to provide our members with meaningful opportunities to access spectrum, drive innovation, and continue investments in next-generation technologies.”

CCA Welcomes FCC Rules Eliminating the Requirement for Broadband Data Collection (BDC) Filings to be Certified by a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

Washington, D.C., – Competitive Carriers Association President and CEO Tim Donovan made the following statement regarding Federal Communications Commission (FCC) deregulatory action regarding the National Broadband Map: “CCA thanks the FCC for acting to reduce regulatory burdens on broadband providers by eliminating the PE certification requirement for BDC filings. CCA has long advocated for this change, including through multiple waiver requests. Today, the FCC codified a more flexible and practical approach that recognizes the qualifications of experienced engineers. CCA also welcomes Commissioner Olivia Trusty to the FCC and appreciates her support, which made adoption of this item possible.
