Statement by CCA President & CEO Tim Donovan on FCC Spectrum Auction Authority

May 14, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Competitive Carriers Association President and CEO Tim Donovan made the following statement regarding the House Energy & Commerce Committee markup today:

“CCA has long urged Congress to restore the Federal Communication Commission's (FCC) authority to conduct spectrum auctions, a critical tool for expanding wireless access and meeting growing consumer demand. CCA members rely on spectrum — particularly mid-band spectrum that offers a balance of coverage and capacity — to deploy and enhance services, especially in rural and underserved areas. Reinstating auction authority is essential to ensuring the United States maintains its global leadership in next-generation wireless technologies. CCA supports continued congressional efforts to reinstate this authority and stands ready to work with lawmakers to advance policies that promote innovation, connectivity, and competition.”
