Southern Linc: driving value with AI

By Alan McIntyre, Vice President of Engineering & Operations
Southern Linc
Southern Linc is expanding how it uses AI—moving beyond simply understanding data to predicting what’s likely to happen and taking action in response. While AI for insights helps teams see what’s happening today, predictive and automated AI can anticipate issues and respond more quickly. Together, these capabilities deliver real, measurable results across key areas like network performance, revenue assurance, and the overall customer experience.
Southern Linc’s strategy focuses on using AI to deliver faster insights, simplify complex processes, and to support more proactive decision-making across the business. As these efforts continue to grow, each AI initiative is aligned to business priorities and designed to deliver meaningful operational and financial value. This can be seen in action across key areas of the business, as highlighted in two examples below.
Using AI to assist in network operations
In network operations, Southern Linc is embedding agentic AI to continuously monitor and optimize our LTE environment using real-time KPIs and performance metrics. Through self-organizing and augmented network automation, AI predicts and adjusts configurations automatically, reducing manual effort, minimizing errors, and improving overall network stability and performance. This closed-loop approach positions Southern Linc to scale efficiently as the company moves toward 5G and other increasingly complex network environments.
Using AI to assist in revenue assurance operations
Southern Linc is modernizing revenue assurance by using AI to move away from manual, reactive processes and toward more proactive operations. Real-time dashboards analyze customer, billing and accounting data to help identify trends, spot potential issues and reduce the need for time-consuming investigations. As a result, financial data is more accurate and dependable, operations run more efficiently, and customers benefit from more accurate billing.
Across the organization, AI is helping teams work more efficiently by making information easier to find and use—freeing up time to focus on higher-value work. AI solutions are deployed within secure, well-governed environments to ensure data is protected and used responsibly across the business.
Looking ahead, Southern Linc will continue to expand these capabilities into generative AI solutions—tools that can quickly summarize information, answer questions, and provide insights in a clear and easy-to-use format. These solutions will provide real-time access to network and customer insights, enabling faster decisions, improved customer engagement, and greater visibility into revenue opportunities. As they continue to evolve, AI solutions will play an increasingly important role in helping teams turn data into actionable insights that support stronger business outcomes.
