CCA Welcomes FCC Rules Eliminating the Requirement for Broadband Data Collection (BDC) Filings to be Certified by a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

June 26, 2025

Washington, D.C., – Competitive Carriers Association President and CEO Tim Donovan made the following statement regarding Federal Communications Commission (FCC) deregulatory action regarding the National Broadband Map:

“CCA thanks the FCC for acting to reduce regulatory burdens on broadband providers by eliminating the PE certification requirement for BDC filings. CCA has long advocated for this change, including through multiple waiver requests. Today, the FCC codified a more flexible and practical approach that recognizes the qualifications of experienced engineers.

CCA also welcomes Commissioner Olivia Trusty to the FCC and appreciates her support, which made adoption of this item possible. We look forward to working with her and the full FCC to advance policies that reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens and provide connectivity to every American.”
