May 11, 2023

Washington, D.C. - Competitive Carriers Association President and CEO Tim Donovan made the following statement regarding the announcement of a bipartisan Senate working group to evaluate and propose potential reforms to the Universal Service Fund (USF) by U.S. Senators Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and John Thune (R-S.D), Chairman and Ranking Member, respectively, of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation’s Subcommittee on Communications, Media, and Broadband:

“We commend Senators Luján and Thune for convening a bipartisan working group to evaluate and propose potential reforms to the Universal Service Fund. USF programs are critical for competitive carriers and the consumers they serve. Going forward, these programs must provide sustainable, predictable, and sufficient support. CCA looks forward to collaborating with the working group and other stakeholders to achieve these important goals.”
